Andri Iona Ceramic Exhibition
Andri Iona, having graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Camberwell, London returns to Cyprus and devotes herself to the Art of ceramic and painting.
The four elements of nature earth-water-air-fire, contribute in the genesis and creation of ceramic forms from the creator. A composition of colors is drawn on the canvas giving a perfect marriage of figure shaping along with imagination and reality.
Her love for the nature and the human being, which is diffused in her work, coexist through an aesthetic emotion and jubilation of soul. The creativity and the imagination she possess, give form to a group of natural and human figures as well as to simple curves. Imagination and reality become one part and the nature comes to live through tree trunks, mountain peaks, volcano lavas.

Artist statement:
Having experienced painting and drawing for many years, the ultimate reflection within ones work is The spirit of the Drawing. The line is an integral part within the structure of making Art. The idea of the line is of the up most importance. My work begins with that line, and continues to learn the fabrics of the drawing to the painting. Although my work is constructed with an abstract frame, it is fundamental to achieve all possibilities to push further the two acts. The stronger the line, the richer it becomes, therefore new ideas and sensations are formed. How can one paint without the exploration of drawing. My new work is taking on a new story. A new story These new paintings are a self discovery, within my Cypriot roots. It is an exploration of spirit, through the history of my family, and the islands spirit itself .The exhibition will be a rites of passage. A beginning to tell my own story’s through experience of painting I hope one day that all my story’s can be told on one canvas. One feels this show is the beginning of that journey.
