Dear Cyprus Vines Members,

December is usually a difficult month to organise events as there is so much going on and we know that many of you will have left the island to spend the holidays with family abroad.

We wish you all Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

For those of us who will spend Christmas in Cyprus we have planned a winter warmer wine tasting at Emphasis Café in Paphos on the 16^th December. The Sommeliers’ Competition will be a very interesting event to witness, for those of you who wish to attend, please let us know and we will make the necessary reservations.

We regret to inform you that our website has been hacked into and has been offline for a few weeks. It seems there are people out there who have nothing better to do than to mess with random websites for absolutely no reason. We are busy updating and  fixing the damage and we should be up and running in the next couple of weeks. The website is now secure and we will make sure that this does not happen again.

Cyprus Sommeliers’ Association National Competition 2009

Witness the final of the competition and enjoy a Champagne reception hosted by Louis Roederer at 20.30 and the Four Course gala dinner at 21.00. The cost for

the public is €70.00 per person including selected wines matched with the menu, SODAP, KEO and ETKO, and Hennessy Cognac

For those wishing to stay overnight the hotel offers pool and garden view rooms at €110 per room per night.

Christmas Gifts

Gaia Oinotechniki (Ayios Amvrosios Winery) is offering special Christmas packages for gifts. We have attached the brochure which is in Greek, for our English speaking members the contact details are there so please call the winery for more information.

Christmas Hampers

Emphasis Café is offering tailor made hampers for the holidays. These will include a select choice of Cypriot wines with homemade mince pies, Christmas biscuits, muffins, scones, jams and preserves. If you are interested in ordering please and have any special requests, let us know and we will send you a quote.
