World Music Day 2010 (Limassol), June 21st

The Alliance Française of Limassol has been organising for the past 5 years now, the Fête de la Musique on the 21st of June.

Completely different from a music festival, the Music Day is above all a free popular fête, open to any participant (amateur or professional musicians) who wants to perform in it. This Music day allows the expression of all styles of music in a cheerful atmosphere. It aims at a large audience, working to popularise musical practice for young and not so young people from all social backgrounds. It gives an opportunity to communicate and share a very special moment through music.

Our aim is to develop a cultural movement, promoting and involving the local actors, through their participation in a worldwide celebrated event.

Program

TAT-TNABAR: by using common objects (carrot, toothbrush…) to make instruments, they redefine the world of percussions in a very unique way.

WANDERLUST: with influences from alternative rock, and the band members' own diverse tastes in music, Wanderlust have already established themselves as a popular live act in Cyprus. Their debut EP album, "Technology?" already receives serious airplay on several radio stations.

MUDAY: a group from Chile whose name was borrowed from a traditional local drink, performing a big variety of all types of Latin tunes.

SALTET JAZZ ENSEMBLE: a quartet of young musicians but already well-known in the city of Lemesos, for the excellent quality of their music.

ALMA LIBRE: youth band performing greek pop and rock.

PRISONERS IN HEAVEN: performing classic English rock

SOUND TRACK: youth band, performing authentic metal rock
