The Israeli Ethnic Ensemble embodies the rich cultural mosaic that forms Israel . The Ensemble's music combines the sounds of Eastern Europe and the Balkans with gypsy Sephardic and Yemenite music . The sound is either nostalgic and melodic or passionate and upbeat.
The Ensemble's musicians come from some of the many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds that all call Israel home. The musicians are Talya G.A.Salon - vocals, Gilad Ephrat -double bass, Gershon Waiserfirer - Oud/tuba, Daniel Hoffman -violin and Ori Naveh -percussion. They have performed in front of prestigious guests including the presidents of both Israel and Bulgaria and are considered one of the best bands of its kind.
Talya G.A Salon was born in Rehovot Israel and Talya is one of the most interesting contemporary voices in the Israeli ‘World Music' industry. She graduated Tel-Aviv University 's Art Faculty with honors and was the winner of the "Sharet's merit scholarship" in the root music category. Talya's singing is versatile and multi-colored. Through singing, she expresses her roots (Bulgarian and Yemenite) and her curious soul. Israeli culture is the product of an immigrant society and brings together Balkan music alongside the sounds of Morocco , traditional Russian music side by side with Arabic and Middle Eastern traditional music and so on.
The Ensemble's unique performances represent the diverse and colourful cultural characters of Israeli music.
