The drawings of Susan Vargas relate the material in an intuitive manner to the subject constructing images from memories, personal stories, myths and daily life thus achieving a very personal pictorial imagery. Animals, bulls, priests, rituals, natural disasters, cities are juxtaposed in surreal and poetic ways to search and question our responsibility and position in relation to the world we live in.
Although the drawings express a critical approach to the subject there is also a sense of humor in the narrative created by the unexpected use of imagery.
