Description
The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation within the frames of its continuous development and expansion of its activities, organizes for the first time in Cyprus the International Competition for Young Conductors ''Solon Michaelides''.
The competition was announced on February of 2013 in all over the world and the response the Foundation received exceeded its expectations by receiving 94 applications from many different countries. The aim of the competition was to disseminate the name of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and this was achieved.
The competition will culminate with the final round concert in which the three finalists will compete for the first prize by conducting the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. The winner will be announced by the jury after the concert ends, and the prizes will be awarded.
The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy works by Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn and others, as well as the work by Solonas Michaelides ''O Estavromenos''.
