New Summer 2015 Collection - La Dolce Vita, Fashion Show on 10th June at Mckenzie Beach

Beach - Lifestyle - Cruise
An exciting new concept brand – La Dolce Vita – will be launching its pop-up beach boutique at Makou (Mckenzie beach, Larnaca) on June 10 at 6pm, with a fashion show launch on the sand.

The event will be by invitation only and aims to showcase a stunning collection of fashion, accessories, lifestyle products, interior-home, beach, cruise and other summer orientated items. All products involved inspired the creator of La Dolce Vita, Sharon Holmes, who has travelled extensively and desires to reflect the best fusion of organic, sustainable, Fairtrade and ethical fashion. Her endeavours will be featured in a unique pop-up boutique on the beach that offers a range of selective pieces new to Larnaca.

For a limited time only within the summer of 2015, the collection will feature gorgeous leather sandals from Santorini, intricate homemade artisan bags from the Philippines, rugs from India, stylish Panama hats, ornate handmade jewellery, elegant kaftans, signature swimwear and towels from Mykonos, amongst other exclusive items developed by local designers.
Sharon says the idea behind the concept is to “offer fairly-priced, good quality products from around the world that have a story to tell or tradition to reveal”. She continued: “In essence, La Dolce Vita is fashion with a conscience, where the suppliers or producers have worked with full moral responsibility.”

After the fashion show and grand opening, the pop-up boutique will be open during weekends and on some weekdays in conjunction with special events held by Makou or La Dolce Vita.

The brand also supports local designers and artisans. Sharon is currently working with the well-known Cypriot clothing designer, Pavlina, for a signature range of evening wear that will be exclusive to La Dolce Vita.

Stay tuned and join "La Dolce Vita International" on Facebook!

About Sharon Holmes:

Gay Pride Parade in Nicosia on June 6th

Accept-LGBTI Cyprus will hold its second Gay Pride Parade in Nicosia on June 6, according to a news release issued by the NGO on Tuesday.

The slogan of this year’s parade is “Free to be” and it will focus on freedom of expression.

“The community demands the right to free expression and to be itself. The right to live without censorship, without worrying that its very existence could spark a reaction, and free of the self imposed torture of leading a double life. The LGBTI community is here, it creates and lives among us,” the news release said.

The NGO urged everyone who believed in equal rights to support the event. The first Gay Pride parade was held on May 31, 2014 and proved to be a success.

The Gay Pride Parade will be under the auspices of Nicosia mayor Constantinos Yiorkadjis

The events will kick off on May 28 with art exhibits, documentary screenings, book presentations, poetry nights, music events, and others.

Trans activist Paola Revenioti will bring back an art exhibit called “Correction,” that sparked controversy in 2014.

The photo exhibit featured pictures of naked men and was taken down by police after complaints.

Police were acting on an antiquated indecency law and have since returned the photos.

Known Greek author and gay rights activist Auguste Corteau will also take part in the celebrations.

Competition 2015: Tackle climate change with your sustainable business idea until 29th May!

You have a business idea about sustainability and you have what it takes to become an entrepreneur. In that case, ClimateLaunchpad could be your ticket to European and global success. Your cleantech idea can be about an all-out mind shift in urban mobility, a sustainable transition in the food chain or any other way to tackle climate change.

How it works
In 2015 the competition is open to participants based in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Check the submission deadline per country.

Small print
Let us challenge you, join the competition. But before you do, we just want to make sure that you:
have not yet started a business or you started it less than one year ago;
have no substantial revenue;
you have attracted less than € 200.000 in investment;
you have not yet sold products, solutions or prototypes on commercial terms.

So even if your idea is on the back of a napkin, you’re most welcome to join. All good? Enter your idea by filling out the application form. Our National Juries select the best proposals to join the National Competitions. If you’re in, these are the steps you’ll walk:

Step 1: Boot Camp
ClimateLaunchpad kicks off with a 2-day Boot Camp in your own country. Our trainers will teach you all you need to know about jumpstarting your business.

Step 2: Intensive coaching and National Finals
The Boot Camp is followed-up with a period of intensive coaching. You’ll perfect your pitch, value proposition and business model. After that, you’ll be ready to rock the National Final where you get to pitch in front of your National Jury. The Top-3 of each country enters the European Final in September in the Netherlands.

Step 3: European Final in the Netherlands
The Top-3 of all National Finals get a chance to pitch their idea in front of the review board of Climate-KIC Accelerator. If you impress them, you might gain access to Climate-KIC Accelerator, the 18-month real life business school where great ideas grow into great businesses.
The 8 teams selected in the European semi-finals to perform in the Grand Final, will get direct access into Climate-KIC Accelerator without having to pitch to a review board. Besides this, the overall winner of the European Final receives € 10,000, the runner up gets € 5,000 and the idea that comes in third place wins € 2,500.
