Musical for Children “Ara..Mara..Koukounara”

The witch Krisara has spread crisis all around the world. She wants to see miserable and unhappy people everywhere and she almost succeeds. Only one little boy resists, Marcus, who along with his friend, Anna, decided that they should do something to help adults to regain their smile. So with the help of his grandmother, they begin to change the world, with weapons their innocence and love.

Will they be able to defeat the powerful witch Krisara? Children in the audience help their straggle by participating in the adventure.

"Rock 'n Roll Jive" Music Night (Paphos/Larnaca/Paralimni)

The 1950's hits night will feature Steve Fury, Andi Hobbos and Andrea Morrelli with their band and dancers. The event is taking place in aid of the Paphos Cancer Patients Support Group. The night will be repeated in Larnaca on March 26 and Paralimni on March 30.

Kataklysmos – Festival of the Flood

From Saturday 11th June through to Monday 13th June there will be various events around Cyprus to celebrate ‘Kataklysmos’, or Festival of the Flood, which is a celebration unique to Cyprus.

The events will be staged mostly around coastal areas, starting on Saturday, and will continue through to Monday,  which is a public Bank Holiday in Cyprus for Pentecost (the 50th day after easter).


The Festivities always take place on or near water, as the meaning of ‘Kataklysmos’ is flood. There may be various other events taking place near lakes or even swimming pools, but we will mention the most popular places to go and join in the Festival of Flood celebrations, which are free to attend and organised by the various municipalities, and will have free traditional singing and dancing, as well as ‘Tchattista’, where locals compete to sing improvised verses.


Be prepared to get wet, as the most common custom of this event is to throw water at one another to symbolise the purification of the body and soul.  Celebrations will also include various games, folk dances, swimming competitions and boat races. Enjoy this fun weekend of water and sunshine at any of the Cyprus seaside resorts below.

Anti-Drug Concert

 

The Students Council of Xenion High School in Paralimni bring together the very popular greek singers Eleni Foureira and Kostas Martakis for an Anti-Drug Concert.
All proceeds will go to Anti-Drug Associations around the Island.

‘Songs of our Soul’

A performance of music and dance by "Diastasis Cultural Association" with guest star the Greek singer Vassilis Lekkas, and the participation of important artistic groups from Cyprus such as the famous "Bouzouki Virtuosi" and dancers from "Dionysos".

The show is divided into two parts. In the first part you can listen to beautiful music by the world renowned Greek composers Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis, while the second part will change the mood completely with Greek Laiko and Rembetiko music by composers such as Xarchakos, Tsitsanis and Vamvakaris.

The show ends with dance performances by the outstanding dancers of Dionysos.
