Περιγραφή

Το έργο που ίσως αποτελεί μια από τις μεγαλύτερες μουσικές παραγωγές που έγιναν ποτέ στη Κύπρο και φυσικά με ένα τόσο ενδιαφέρον θέμα όπως είναι η Ιστορία της Κύπρου.

Η παραγωγή παρουσιάζει την ιστορία της Κύπρου από το 411 π.χ. και τον βασιλιά Ευαγόρα της Σαλαμίνας, φτάνει στον ήρωα  Ευαγόρα Παλληκαρίδη και την Ανεξαρτησία της Κύπρου το 1960. Η μουσική είναι του Πολύβιου (Πόλυ) Χαραλάμπους και χρησιμοποιήθηκαν στίχοι από τον Αρχαίον Επικό ποιητήν Ομηρο, τον Βασίλη Μιχαηλίδη,  τον Αντρο Παυλίδη καθώς και τον συνθέτη. Το έργο είναι γραμμένο σε σοβαρό ύφος με στοιχεία από διάφορες εποχές της μουσικής αλλά με μια διακριτική ενορχήστρωση που χρησιμοποιά συγχορδίες της τζαζ ή ακόμα και ροκ μουσικής και διαρκεί περίπου 2.30 ώρες. Αποτελεί μια μοναδική παραγωγή για την Κύπρο και σε αυτήν συμμετέχουν περίπου 550 άτομα . Η βασική ιδέα για το στήσιμο της παραγωγής αυτής προήλθε κάτω από τη σκέψη ότι πολύ λίγα έργα έχουν γραφτεί με περιεχόμενο την ιστορία της Κύπρου και φυσικά αποτελούσαν μεμονωμένες προσπάθειες που καταπιάνονταν με ένα συγκεκριμένο θέμα ή εποχή. Το Ορατόριο αυτό καταπιάνεται έστω και επιγραμματικά με τις βασικές περιόδους της Κυπριακής ιστορίας ξεκινώντας από τον βασιλιά Ευαγόρα της Σαλαμίνας  411 π.χ. που θεωρείται ίσως το σπουδαιότερο πρόσωπο της Αρχαίας αλλά ίσως και όλης της Ιστορίας της Κύπρου μέσα από την όλη περίοδο της βασιλείας του. Φτάνει δε στον ήρωα Ευαγόρα Παλληκαρίδη και την Ανεξαρτησία της Κύπρου το 1960, περνώντας μέσα από όλες τις περιόδους της ιστορίας μας.

Description
The work is probably is one of the biggest productions ever been presented in Cyprus. It presents the history of Cyprus from 411 b.c. with Evagoras as a King of ancient city of Salamina until 1960 a.d. and the hero Evagoras Pallikarides and the Independence of Cyprus.
The music is composed by Polyvios ( Polis) Charalambous and the lyrics belong to ancient Poet Homer, Vasilis Michaelides, Andros Pavlides and Polis Charalambous.
The work is composed in a so called serious style and uses various aspects from different musical periods. There is also a significant use of jazz and even rock harmonies and rhythm.

Ammos Beach Bar at Makenzy Beach in Larnaca has a list of DJ events for the summer (as far as we can tell so far) that may make our high temperatures seem even more unbearable as our dancing feet just won’t be able to resist those red-hot vibes.

This time Larnaca will be jumping to the rhythm of local DJ Dimitris Dimitriou or, as he is known by his stage name, DJ Double S.

Growing up in Nicosia, Dimitriou was passionate about music from a young age. But he only really got a handle on what it was like to be a DJ in 2008 when he had his first public appearance.

Now with a developed skill for mixing things up, the DJ has managed to gain a number of gigs in well-known clubs all over the island, and especially in the capital where his sounds feel most at home.

So if you are looking for someone to help you forget all about your troubles, and somewhere to lose yourself, then let Dimitriou’s loving hands take you to a place where even you won’t remember your own name.

Dionysis Tsaknis performs with Prospectus band at Red Music Stage in Nicosia

"Nyxtes Magikes" with the collaboration of a band to celebrate Vasilis Tsitsanis in Nicosia in February

Cyprus Young String Soloists Concert on the 24th January in Nicosia

The talented children of the Musical Talent Development Programme, established by the Ministry of Education and Culture, will give a concert at the Municipal Theatre of Strovolos on Saturday the 24th of January at 20:00 in memory of the late Minister of Education and Culture Pefkios Georgiades. Tribute to the great composer of Smyrna, Panayiotis Toundas in Nicosia 18th January

Petros Kouloumis (vocals, lute), Pavlos Michaelides (violin, vocals) and Pantelis Ionas (guitar, banjo and vocals) welcome you for a special and unique tribute to the great composer of Smyrna, Panayiotis Toundas (1886–1942).

Panayiotis Toundas was a Greek composer of the early 20th century, born in Smyrna. He is probably the most famous representative of the "Smyrna School" and made a notable contribution to the creation of the rebetico style music in Greece. After the Destruction of Smyrna he went to Athens. In 1924 he became director of the local annex of Odeon Records. He worked with all the major record labels in Greece and was responsible for the most recordings of the era. In 1931 he assumed the position of art director for Columbia Records and His Master's Voice until 1940.

Panayiotis Toundas began composing songs in the 1910s and the first song "The divorcee " with Maria Smyrna was recorded in 1919.
