6x6 Centre for Photography in collaboration with IGPOTY present THE INTERNATIONAL GARDEN PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR Photography Exhibition. In association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, UK.
6x6 Centre for Photography proudly presents an exhibition of the prestigious International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY). This is the world’s premier photography exhibition for gardens, plants and the green environment, resulting from a worldwide photography competition. It is annually held by IGPOTY in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, United Kingdom.
The competition attracts around 18,000 entries each year from many countries around the world and the top prize this year is GBP 7,500. The exhibition aims to celebrate photography as a work of art while at the same time it promotes environmental responsibility, showcasing many images of plants and flowers that are under increasing threat from human activities and a changing environment.
The exhibition at 6x6 Centre for Photography will feature many of the winners and finalists of the 2014 competition, and will include breathtaking photographs from all over the world. The competition categories on show will be: ‘Beautiful Gardens’, ‘Wildlife in the Garden’, ‘Monochrome’, ‘Macro Art’, and ‘The Beauty of Plants’.
The exhibition opens on March 27th, 2015 in the presence of IGPOTY CEO and world acclaimed British photographer Tyrone McGlinchey. The exhibition will remain open until the 21st April 2015.
IGPOTY founder Philip Smith said: “We are delighted to be bringing this wonderful exhibition to Cyprus for the first time. We hope it will inspire all visitors and local photographers to explore the creative possibilities of our green planet.”
In the framework of the exhibition, Mr McGlinchey will deliver a practical photography workshop entitled, «Creative Photography in the Garden». This full day workshop will take place on Saturday, March 28th, 2015. Participants are invited to register at info@cyprus6x6.com or call 25354810. Limited places available. Participating photographers will have a unique opportunity for hands on practice on plant photography under the guidance of a world acclaimed photographer.
The exhibition at 6x6 and the "Creative Photography in the Garden" workshop, are sponsored by House & Garden Ltd and Crowne Plaza Hotel, in Limassol.
