The 1st Windcraft Music Fest takes place in Cyprus

Two summer nights filled with sounds, words and voices… will bring back together locals and “foreigners” in the inn yard that once used to be a lively meeting place for travellers.

Windcraft Music Centre is moving to Katydata, a picturesque village in the valley of Solea, to organise its first music festival, inviting local bands that step on different musical traditions to create new and original sounds: TRI-COOL-ORE are “flirting” with jazz and traditional musical shades, the Ioannis Vafeas Project carries some great jazz musicians into jazz experimentations, The Amalgamation Trio rearranges Balkan and Mediterranean songs mixing them with jazz, improvisation and electronic music, the project Acapella Solo Loop uses voices, sounds and loops to tell “weird stories”, Rumba Attack draw inspiration from Spanish flamenco to compose their own rumbas, while Duo Lelale sings for us songs of the Mediterranean and Asia Minor in their own distinct voices.

Children and grown-ups will have the chance to participate in free music workshops and meet traditional musicians and singers, while walks in the village will reveal to everyone the hidden stories of the place and its people.

Traditional treats and food will be available during the festival and visitors will be able to use a camping site free of charge.

Combining its educational activities with the need to promote the original local music production, Windcraft Music Centre organises the specific festival, in an effort to bring closer the local art scene with the traditional environment of the countryside and to create a common space for cultural interaction.

1st Electronic Music Festival - Nicosia

Event Description
The Center of Cypriot Composers in collaboration with Artos Foundation has arranged the 1st Electronic Music Festival in Cyprus scheduled for June.

To open the festival there will be a lecture by Dr. Haris Sophocleous entitled "Sound Perception and Psychoacoustics" due to take place on Thursday, 6th of June at 18:30.
A concert with works by the members of the Center of Cypriot Composers will follow at 20:30.

The festival concludes with a concert by the members of the Center of Cypriot Composers on Saturday, 8th of June at 20:30.

Young Composers that want to participate should send their music to Ioanni Metaxa at info@comcy.com.cy by the 25th of May and should respect the following ground rules:

• All composers/musicians must be under 30 years old
• The duration of the pieces must be between 3 and 7 minutes 
• Must be marked clearly on the score or cd cover
• Tape composition (Acousmatic), Samplers, Live electronics (one acoustic performer) or with any combination of the above
• The composer will be responsible to find the acoustic performer and arrange to pay for his expenses

Rock Out Festival - Nicosia

''The Rock Out Festival'' is one of the biggest events of the year and is coming this November to Nicosia. This great Festival will be honored by the famous Rock Legends 'Uriah Heep', who are without doubt one of the biggest Rock Bands of all time, and will headline this rock event, which celebrates the culture of Rock music that has touched all our lives, through many generations.

Uriah Heep who debuted in 1970 have played to audiences worldwide and have successfully sold in excess of 30 million albums. Their most famous songs are 'The Wizard', Free n Easy, Sunrise and Easy Living, July Morning and Lady in Black.

The Festival also features is Danish metal-heads, Mnemic who have worked with such artists as the The Fugees and have toured with Metallica, Deftones, Machine Head, Meshuggah, Arch Enemy, All That Remains, Fear Factory and The Haunted.

Also appearing are Armageddon who are the longest living Cypriot Rock group since 1984, experimental metallers Morte Sistema, Folk Rockers Methysos and Punk Band' Infected Syren' who complete the amazing line-up.
