Due to popular demand The Grand Maestro of Italy, Alberto Civitella, is returning to Cyprus to perform a Wine Service Technique seminar in Larnaca in association with Progress Cyprus.

The Seminar will be executed in English and is the only one of its kind and will consist of 3 Modules as follows:

1. The world of Wine
2. Wine Service
3. Wine Sales

The Seminar also includes the "Art of Wine & Food Pairing". There will be a practical session on the art of tasting and serving wine in the afternoon too.

Limassol Wine Festival

Cyprus' wine-growing capital, Limassol, celebrates the country's rich culture with the annual grape harvest festival. All the island's wineries and vineyards gather at the town's Municipal Gardens and share some of the fruits of their labours.  At the festival, guests,  and foreigners, get the chance to try different local wines and traditional Cypriot food, including the island's renowned dessert wine, Commanderia. What's more people are able to witness the traditional pressing of the grapes that signals the beginning of the festivities

“Many of us will have a set of assumptions and clichés about image, class, price and value of wine. One person will tell you that such and such a bottle is far superior to another, but you could still hate it. Depending on your palate, a wine bottle may be presented covered with gold embossed labels, and more gongs than a Tibetan health spa and still do nothing for you. So, what can the sane, normal thinking person make of this often confusing world of wine, can one survive being awash in this liquid world  where lyrical sounding wine buffs dribble on about how this wine should taste of marigolds, pencil shavings and cut grass. If those who enjoy and respect this alcoholic beverage as a healthy, diverse, complex, food enhancing drink that reflects its origins faithfully and honestly, and you wish to raise your appreciation game, then the place to come is Secret Valley on Wednesday from 10.30am until 6pm, George Kassianos, Sommelier, wine writer, and the least pretentious man to hold a wine glass promises to lend absolute clarity to any confusion. The day will cover history, viticulture, grape varieties, the ageing and storage of wine, there will be extensive tasting and analysis plus a session on the matching of wine and food.”

REMINDER

Dear Cyprus Vines members,

Regarding our next wine tasting we inadvertently forgot to advise you of the time the event will take place. We will be meeting at the restaurant at 7pm.

This is going to be a very special occasion as we mentioned before, renowned Sommelier Xenia Schneider will be in Cyprus and she will present together with George Kassianos some of the best Cypriot wines which have been specially chosen to compliment the menu.  This will be a private function at Sidayes restaurant. We have attached a map with directions to the restaurant, for any information regarding the restaurant please contact Marios as listed above.
