The Cyprus Golf Federation have released the initial details of the second annual Cyprus Youth Golf Open competition intended to further encourage the development of junior golf in Cyprus. This years Nicos Severis Cyprus Youth Open will take place at the Sir Nick Faldo Designed Eléa Estate Golf Club.

The competition is once more being generously sponsored by Mrs Marie Severis to encourage and support this prestigious annual junior event. The overall winner will earn the title “Cyprus Youth Golf Champion”

Round The Island Charity Walk - Kapparis, Famagusta

Description 

A short walk, approx 5km, along the coastal path from Kapparis through to Crystal Springs and back to Kapparis for a spot of Brunch!!

The idea of the fun walk is to raise funds and awareness for the forthcoming Round The Island Charity Walk, now taking place in February 2014, which is to raise funds for the Anti Cancer Society, Famagusta Branch and The Alzheimers Association, Famagusta Branch. 

The Round The Island Charity Walk is over 500km and will take 19 - 20 days to complete. It is being done by a team of 4 walkers, and accompanied by a support vehicle.

Cyprus Rally 2013 - Nicosia

Description
The 2013 Cyprus Rally which will take place on 11-13 October is the penultimate round of the Middle East Rally Championship (MERC).

Featuring 13 unique stages, the Cyprus Rally 2013 will start off with a Super Special Stage to be held on Friday night. Participating crews will set off at 19:00 in front of the Cyprus Archaeological Museum and will head towards the start of the Super Special Stage which begins on 20:00. The rally’s second leg begins on Saturday morning with a total of six special stages and wraps up with six more special stages on Sunday. The finish will also take place in front of the Cyprus Archaeological Museum, resembling the Cyprus rally of the 1990s.

The rally’s Service Park will be located at the «Podocataro» bastion of the Nicosia Venetian walls close to the Rally’s headquarters. Both the rally Headquarters as well as the Press Office will be located at Famagusta Gate, which have been kindly provided by the Nicosia Municipality.

Environmental week in Larnaka

The “Environmental Week” of Larnaka, starts today!

On Monday 4th of May the “Environmental Week” will be open with fanfare by the Mayor of Larnaka, Mr A.Moiseos.

The concept of this project is to generate environmental awareness amongst the general public. A press conference will detail more information on the project and the distribution of different leaflets in Foinikoudes street will take place.

The Mayor will personally visit all the ecological schools of Larnaka and he will present diplomas to all students that have shown keen environmental interest.

There are will be many interest courses at the ‘Roof of Arts and Letters’ concerning recycling and and the fauna of Cyprus.

Next Thursday a tree planting event at the Pattichium Amphitheatre of Larnaka will occur. This will be complimented by another tree planting occasion next Friday at the Salt Lake near “Tekke”.

Every local resident can be part of this and as we are in the environmental week, lets all of us think about our environment concern and do our best to reduce our carbon footprint.

It is a fact that the place we live, reflects the people we are!
